Our City of Loveland's Valentine Remailing Program Fun Wedding Things is proud of Loveland, Colorado for many reasons, but one of the neat things volunteers do every year here is re-mail more than 200,000 cards and letters with a special cachet and postal cancellation from Loveland - "the Sweetheart City."The Loveland Chamber of Commerce holds a contest each year for artistic designs and verses in order to develop a new cachet. The cachet is a four-line verse and cupid-related image which gets hand-stamped (by volunteers) on each envelope. This years poem was, "From the City of Loveland with the sincerest of wishes, Happy Valentine's Day to you - Hugs and kisses." A little cupid image was at the left, and "Loveland, Colorado 2007" was at the bottom of the cachet. People from all over the world send in their Valentine's Day cards, or just any card or letter, to a special Loveland address. Then the volunteers stamp the cachet on the inside card/letter (which is already addressed and stamped, ready to go to the recipient, of course) and send the card on its way! The re-mailing program is now in its 61st year, with cards for re-mailing arriving from all 50 states and over 100 countries. Some of the more famous Loveland re-mailing recipients over the years have included Lady Bird Johnson, Abigail Van Buren, and Oprah Winfrey.
